POEM KARTINI

 R.A. Kartini

Did you know, women now?
They can go to school, Mom!
Not just equal to men
 It could even be higher

Did you know, women now?
They are very advanced, Mom!
Some are so military or police
Until the high officials of this country

Did you know, women now?
Free to pursue their dreams and hopes
No longer different from the rights of women and men
Ambition has been achieved, Mom!

But, Mom ... Missing Mom with us now
Will make your tears drip heartache
Seeing thou hast opened what should be covered
And sell cheap what should be upheld

Did you know, women now?
They are like caged birds are old, then freed
They fly, Mom! But too far, too high ...

HOW TO IMPROVE EDUCATION IN INDONESIA

HOW TO IMPROVE EDUCATION IN INDONESIA
Education in Indonesia is primarily the responsibility of the Ministry of National Education of Indonesia. According to the Indonesian Constitution, all citizens must undertake nine years of compulsory education, six years at elementary level and three in junior high school. The constitution also notes that education in Indonesia is divided into two major parts, formal and non-formal.

Since its independence in 1945, The Government of Indonesia has steadily made efforts to improve and expand its education system. Over the years, significant efforts have been made to develop all levels of formal education in Indonesia, from elementary to university education.
The extent to which a nation has achieved success in improving its education is a barometer for measuring its development. Education in Indonesia lags far behind many other countries.

Education is essential to development. It opens doors to all and helps people to lift themselves out of poverty. It empowers people and is a powerful “equalizer”. The best and only way to produce qualified human resources is the provision of a flawless education system.

WHAT IS QUALITY EDUCATION?

R.A. KARTINI

Raden Ajeng Kartini

Raden Adjeng Kartini (born in Jepara, Central Java, 21 April 1879 - died in Rembang, Central Java, 17 September 1904 at age 25 years) or actually more accurately called Raden Ayu Kartini was a prominent Javanese and Indonesian National Hero. Kartini is known as a pioneer of the rise of indigenous women.

Raden Adjeng Kartini is one of the Javanese aristocratic or noble class, the daughter of Raden Mas Sosroningrat Duke Ario, the regent of Jepara. She is the daughter of first wife, but not the main wife. His mother named M.A. Ngasirah, daughter of Haji Siti Aminah Nyai and Kyai Haji Madirono, a religion teacher at Telukawur, Jepara.

Kartini's father at the beginning was a Wedana in Mayong. Colonial Rule requires a regent at that time married to a nobleman. Because M.A. Ngasirah not the high nobility, then her father married again with Raden Adjeng Woerjan (Moerjam), a direct descendant of King of Madura. After the marriage, Kartini's father was appointed the regent of Jepara, replacing the biological father of RA Woerjan, R.A.A. Tjitrowikromo.

Kartini was the son of the 5th of 11 siblings and stepfather. Of all siblings, Kartini was the eldest daughter. His grandfather, Prince Ario Tjondronegoro IV, was appointed regent at the age of 25 years. Kartini's older brother, Sosrokartono, is an intelligent person in the field of language. Until the age of 12 years, Kartini allowed to attend school in the ELS (Europese Lagere School). Here, among others, Kartini learn the Dutch language. But after 12 years of age, he should stay at home because it could be secluded.

Because Kartini could speak Dutch, then at home he began to study himself and writing letters to friends correspondence originating from the Netherlands. One is Rosa Abendanon a lot of support them. From books, newspapers, and magazines of Europe, Kartini interested in the advancement of women think European. Arise desire to promote indigenous women, because he saw that indigenous women are at a low social status.

EARTH DAY

EARTH DAY

Happy Earth Day everybody!
Now you may be asking yourself, what exactly is earth day?

Earth Day takes place on April 22nd and the occasion is over forty years old. Earth Day stems back to when people stared to realise and recognise the importance of our planet. Earth Day offers us the chance to recognise what we can do to play our part in facing up to the challenge of global warming. It also highlights what each individual can do to play a part in building a clean world and use its resources without damaging our surroundings.

The idea of Earth Day came to founder Gaylord Nelson, a former U.S. Wisconsin Senator, after witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. He was inspired by the student anti-war movement, he came to realize that if he could use that energy to show the public about air and water pollution, it would then force environmental protection onto the national political agenda.
Senator Nelson announced the idea for a "National Teach-In On The Environment" to the national media and as a result on the 22nd of April, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive coast-to-coast rallies. Since that time Earth Day as grown and helped create over 5,000 environmental groups in over 184 countries.

Earth Day History

 Earth Day History

Until that time, protecting the planet’s natural resources was not part of the national political agenda.  Factories pumped pollutants into the air, lakes and rivers with few legal consequences, big, gas-guzzling cars were considered a sign of prosperity and few Americans were familiar with recycling.  Senator Gaylord Nelson, a Democrat from Wisconsin who was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1962, was determined to wake up the federal government to the fact that the earth was at risk.  In 1969, Nelson, considered one of the leaders of the modern environmental movement, developed the idea for Earth Day.
Nelson announced the Earth Day concept at a conference in Seattle in the fall of 1969 and invited the entire nation to get involved. As he later recalled: “The wire services carried the story from coast to coast. The response was electric. It took off like gangbusters. Telegrams, letters and telephone inquiries poured in from all across the country. The American people finally had a forum to express its concern about what was happening to the land, rivers, lakes and air—and they did so with spectacular exuberance.”
Dennis Hayes, a young activist who had served as student president at Stanford University, was selected as Earth Day’s national coordinator, and he worked with an army of student volunteers and several staff members from Nelson’s Senate office to organize the project. According to Nelson: “Earth Day worked because of the spontaneous response at the grassroots level. We had neither the time nor resources to organize 20 million demonstrators and the thousands of schools and local communities that participated. That was the remarkable thing about Earth Day. It organized itself.”
On April 22, rallies were held in Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and “most other American cities,” according to the Environmental Protection Agency. “In fact, 80 percent of all observances were urban affairs.” In New York City, Mayor John Lindsay closed off a portion of Fifth Avenue to traffic for several hours and spoke at a Union Square rally with actors Paul Newman and Ali McGraw. In Washington, D.C., thousands of people listened to speeches and performances by singer Pete Seeger and others and Congress went into recess so its members could speak to their constituents at Earth Day events.

Tanjung Tinggi

The Unique Natural Landscape of Tanjung Tinggi Beach 9 The Unique Natural Landscape of Tanjung Tinggi Beach

Welcome to Tanjung Tinggi, the most popular beach in Belitung. My opinion, this beach is not only popular, but it is truly beautiful. In this page we want to share how special of this place. If you visit Belitung, never miss this place.
Here are fact findings about Tanjung Tinggi:
Tanjung Tinggi is a beach placed among two peninsulas This is white sandy beach, and it is special because there are hundreds of granite boulders spreading mainly in both peninsula as well as in the beach and sea. The size of that granite starting from a meter cubic until several hundred meter cubic or bigger than a house. You can climb, walk and jump among the granites to see exclusive view from every angle from you stand. The shape of that boulders are also unique, some combination form a cave, the place for you to escape from small rain. They are placed on top of each other to form a nice object as you can clearly from the picture.
Those boulders stand on white sands. As you can see from pictures, you can walk on white sands besides boulders and clear sea water. White sands is everywhere along the beach. Kids will really like to play there. Since wave is not big, water is clear and sandy underwater surface, kids will really like to play in the water. You don't need to afraid of shark attack, because it's never happen in Belitung. The only thing that you sometimes must watch out is jelly fish, especially the big one.
Tanjung Tinggi also named Pelabuhan Bilik. It was fishery port for people from nearest village Keciput or Tanjung Tinggi. There are at least twenty traditional seafood restaurant in a shack along the bay. It is place for you to stretch your leg, drink coffee or order you lunch. They favourite menu is seafood. But, please don't expect you will get similar service likes restaurant in the shopping mall. They are just a people from village that make a simple restaurant. However, most people in here are warm to their entireguest, just likes most Indonesian people.
